The Zero-Server Guarantee
Unlike conventional video recording tools that route your recordings through their centralized cloud servers to monetize or charge you for storage, Syncro streams encrypted video chunks straight from your browser into your personal or corporate Google Drive. We never see, touch, or store your video streams.
1. Privacy Philosophy
This Privacy Policy explains how UtilsFirst Technologies ("UtilsFirst", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Syncro browser extension (the "Extension" or "Service").
Syncro was engineered from day one as a client-side utility. We believe that privacy isn’t just a policy statement—it’s an architectural decision. By bypassing intermediary storage servers entirely, we eliminate server-side vulnerabilities and unauthorized access to your private video communications.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect or Store
When you record with Syncro, the following information NEVER leaves your device for our servers:
- Video Content: We do not receive, store, replicate, or analyze your recorded video streams.
- Audio Recordings: Microphone and system audio streams remain strictly in memory on your device until encrypted and sent directly to Google Drive.
- Keystrokes & Inputs: We do not log keystrokes, clipboard content, passwords, or personal details typed during recordings.
- Browsing History: Syncro does not monitor, track, or sell your general web surfing activity or history.
- Personal Drive Files: Syncro has no access to any existing personal documents, photos, or files in your Google Drive outside of the items created specifically by the extension.
3. Google API Services & Limited Use Compliance
Syncro's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
- We only request permissions required to upload recordings to your selected Google Drive folder and obtain the file’s shareable URL.
- Google user data obtained via Google APIs is never used to develop, train, or improve generalized AI or machine learning models.
- We never transfer, sell, or disclose Google user data to third parties, advertising platforms, or data brokers.
4. Information We May Process Locally
To provide core features, the extension utilizes your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local):
- Local Settings & Preferences: Recording quality choices (1080p, 720p), audio input device IDs, webcam bubble shapes, and countdown preferences are saved locally on your browser.
- Authentication Tokens: Temporary OAuth access tokens generated by Google Identity Services are held locally in your browser to authorize Drive uploads and are refreshed automatically.
- Anonymous Error Diagnostics: In rare cases of software failure, non-identifiable client diagnostic messages (e.g., MediaRecorder browser API exception codes) may be captured strictly to troubleshoot extension bugs.
5. Client-Side Privacy Safeguards
Syncro incorporates proactive privacy features directly in the extension:
- Smart Screenshot Blur: When using the screenshot tool, Syncro allows you to click any webpage element (such as email addresses, account balances, or API keys) to blur it on your local canvas before saving or uploading.
- Immediate Local Cleanup: Recorded media chunks in browser memory (Blob/ArrayBuffer) are immediately freed once the upload session concludes or is cancelled.
6. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information or recordings under any circumstances.
The only third-party service integrated into Syncro is Google Drive API, which acts as the storage destination you explicitly authorize for your own video files. Your interactions with Google Drive are governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
7. Revocation & User Control
You have full control over Syncro at all times:
- You can disconnect your Google Account via the extension popup at any time.
- You can permanently revoke Syncro’s access to your Google Account by visiting Google Account Third-Party Permissions.
- You can delete any recording from your Google Drive folder directly, exactly like any other file in your Google Drive.
- You can uninstall the Syncro extension from your browser’s extension manager with one click.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly solicit or collect information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with information without parental consent, please reach out to our privacy officer.
